You have a chance to help families and pets in our community this weekend, and all you have to do is donate aluminum cans. Yes--it really is that easy!

Expressions Boutique and Tanning, located at 15706 Highway 216 in Brookwood, Alabama,  will host "Cans for Kritters," a special fundraiser to be held from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday, September 19.

What is Cans for Kritters? It's a local non-profit organization that helps families in our area get their pets spayed or neutered. Cans for Kritters was founded by husband and wife Larry and Darlene Richardson, who saw lots of stray animals in their community and wanted to do something to help.

Cans for Kritters collects empty aluminum cans; those cans are sold at a recycling center, and the money is used to purchase vouchers for local families which are used to have pets spayed or neutered.

Cans for Kritters' first pets were spayed/neutered on May 9, 2015--and since then, they've been able to help 82 pets! Incredible, right?

How can you help? Come to the event this weekend! Bring your aluminum cans, and be prepared to have some fun. They'll have live entertainment, games, face painting, kids activities, and more. The ALSPCA will offer $25.00 pet microchipping, and Cans for Kritters will also be accepting donations of canned or non-perishable food items which will be given to an area family in need this holiday season.
