We live in a neighborhood that has a dead end drive with a cul-de-sac. There is no through traffic. Still, we have people in the neighborhood that speed past our house. We have kids and so does our 'across the street' neighbors that like to play outside. Can we get a speed bump?

Now, I realize that kids should not play in the street. We don't allow it and neither does our neighbors but sometimes the kids need to cross the street. Sometimes we like to walk along beside them as they ride their bikes.  Our neighborhood has no speed bumps or speed tables.

I saw a "Caution -Kids at Play" sign in Toys' R Us a while back and thought about getting  it for my yard. Then I thought the bright orange, child shaped sign would eventually become part of the land scape and neighborhood speeders would not pay it any attention.

You have to pay speed bumps attention or you'll destroy your undercarriage.  I hate a speed bump as much as the next guy but if they are helping save my kids or myself from getting mowed down by a speeding car then I can tolerate them.

Do you have speed bumps in your neighborhood? Can we request one  or two? How do 'they' go about assessing if your neighborhood needs one or not?
