Last year, I made up my mind to be well-prepared and well-armed when the angry, starving hoards invade my compound to raid my food stores after the Apocalypse.

I kid, I kid (not really).

Part of being a responsible gun owner is knowing how to use one, a feat made more difficult to accomplish when you're scared to death to hold a weapon. After my first lesson (thank you, Bob White with HAVOC), I complained about the recoil and the gun's refusal to let me know when it would fire. Evidently, the element of surprise is a 'good thing' when firing your weapon, but knowing that did nothing to alleviate my anxiety. My husband took pity and after several weeks of research, decided a Kel-Tec PMR-30 would help me get over my phobia. He was right.

The Kel-tec PMR-30 is extremely light and spits fire like a dragon. There's minimal recoil but the best part is the magazine holds 30 .22 mag rounds. The only downsides are purchasing ammunition and having to pretend in my mind that the gun is mine.

For our anniversary, I asked for target practice which he readily obliged. I'm not ready to add 'Professional Sniper' to my business card but I am more comfortable holding the weapon.

I do need to work on my pose after holstering the gun. Someone forgot to tell me we weren't having a tea party.

Enjoy the video below of my attempts to hit various body parts on the crazy guy target.
