Due to statewide saturating rainfall, Governor Bentley has lifted the Statewide Ban on outdoor burning.

Though Alabama continues in drought status, there has now been enough moisture to warrant rescinding the ban.

If you chose to burn outdoors, you're encouraged to follow the normal safety precautions.

Officials with the Alabama Forestry Commission (AFC) still advise that fires more than a quarter-acre or within 25 feet of a forested area require a permit from the AFC.

Burn permits may be obtained by calling 1-800-392-5679.
