I want to let y'all know that I had Milo's--for breakfast... in Tuscaloosa. It was everything I hoped it would be and so much more. I felt like a kindergartner at Disneyland; it was just that awesome.

The West Alabama Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Milo's this morning (Check out videos and more from this morning's ceremony HERE). After the ribbon was cut, I walked through the glass doors into the PROMISED LAND. The inside of the new restaurant looks amazing! Check out this shot of the dining area.

Here's the main registers. I LOVE the menu boards and the white tile! And another noteworthy feature--there's an express lane for milkshakes and ice cream.

I plan on being in that Express Lane many, many times.

One of the new features of Milo's in Tuscaloosa is the Sauce Bar. Milo's is known for its signature OG Sauce. It's not available in keg size (trust me; I've asked), but you can help yourself to Milo's lineup of incredible sauces. You grab a little paper cup and choose from the Original, Honey Mustard, Ranch, Boom-Boom, or my fave, Double-O (a mix of their fresh-made ranch and Milo's Sauce.) It's like Willy Wonka and The Condiment Factory, yall--so good.

Do you see that little clear bin behind the sauces? You want to know what's in there? Packets of Milo's Seasoned Salt. You know, the stuff they use to season their fries. It's basically the most delicious salt on the planet. They won't reveal their secret ingredients, but it's probably ground Unicorn Horns and Pixie Dust, because that salt is magical. MAGICAL.

You know I had to throw down and get THE BIGGEST glass of sweet tea possible; I was raised on Milo's Famous Tea. The days of returning to the register for refills are over, btw--you're able to help yourself at the brand-new tea and soda bar. JUST LOOK AT THAT CHALICE OF SWEET SOUTHERN GOODNESS.

I think I was most psyched about being able to sample Milo's new breakfast menu. Our Milo's is one of just THREE in the entire state that serve breakfast, and let me tell y'all that the menu is STACKED. It took all I had not to ask for one of everything, and I eventually settled on a Chicken Sandwich and Millie Rae's Cinnamon Rolls.

You may be giving me some side eye right now and thinking to yourself, "Meg, are you delusional? I thought you were ordering breakfast, and that picture is of a sandwich." You need to know that was not a mistake: you can order your breakfast on one of Milo's toasty buns or a fluffy biscuit. I was like, GO BIG OR GO HOME, and went for the bun.

I talk about all the Milo's Breakfast Goodness in the video below; check it out. Try not to drool on your desk when you see those cinnamon rolls, btw.

I'm planning on heading back to Milo's Original Burger Shop in Tuscaloosa tomorrow for their Grand Opening. Be on the lookout for me around lunch, as I will not be able to resist the siren song of the Mega Meal. I'll be the one trying to shove ten pounds of pies in the B101.7 van...

I would like to end this on a semi-serious note, though; it's so good to have Milo's back in Tuscaloosa--and not just because of their amazing food. It's been four years since the Milo's on McFarland Boulevard was destroyed on April 27, 2011.

I ate there that day. I had gotten off work (it was a crazy day in the studio), and wanted to pick up something to eat before the next round of storms came through. I had no idea what the future held; it was just like any other day. I drove to Milo's and ordered lunch. I remember driving one of our radio station vehicles and giving the girls in the drive-thru a few station t-shirts.

I brought my lunch back to my office. I ate. I went back up to the studio and eventually back home. In just a few short hours, everything changed.

The next few days were so busy that I didn't have time to set foot in my office. That's not hyperbole; it's fact. About a week later, I went back to my office. I still had a Milo's napkin on my desk--and for whatever reason, I still can't bring myself to throw it away. It's at my house now, tucked in a scrapbook.

Having Milo's in Tuscaloosa again is so awesome because it's another big stride in our journey to recovery. I'm so happy they're here now!

Welcome Home, Milo's!
