Body of Missing Alabama Teen Recovered From River

The body of a missing 17-year-old female was recovered this morning near Bluff City, TN on the Tennessee River.

Alonda Veniszee, a student at James Clemens High School in Madison, AL, was kayaking with 20-year-old Timothy Edwards on Wednesday when their vessel flipped. Authorities say that Veniszee was not wearing a life jacket and could not swim. Edwards was charged with public intoxication and an investigation is underway to determine if alcohol was the cause of the incident.

Rescue crews recovered the young female's body around 8 am Thursday morning.
