Half marathons can last for well over two hours depending on the runner. On course entertainment is a welcome break to the monotony and to boost morale.

In my years of running many half marathons, I've been entertained by marching bands, drum corps, vocal groups, disc jockeys, country bands, and dozens of rock bands but I've never run into a bluegrass band while putting in my miles.

I've also laughed at the signs like, "Run faster, beer one mile ahead" or "Don't stop, I just farted" and many others but never have I encountered a bunch of hecklers who looked and acted like they were straight out of a scene in the 1972 movie Deliverance.

This hilarious, viral video was taken, apparently at a turnaround, on June 6, 2015 at the Franklin Half Marathon along the rolling hills of Franklin, TN. The band appropriately plays "Dueling Banjos" from one of the most famous scenes in the film.
