After tryouts with the Green Bay Packers and Washington Redskins didn't result in a contract, former Alabama quarterback Blake Sims will begin his professional career in Canada.

Everett Sports Marketing, which represents Sims, announced on Thursday via Instagram that their client will join the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.

The best news for Sims is that he'll have the opportunity to play quarterback at the next level. Had he joined an NFL team, he likely would have needed to change positions. Now, the Crimson Tide's single-season passing leader will get the chance to prove himself at the professional level, which could open a door to the NFL.

The Argonauts finished 8-10 in 2014 and missed the CFL playoffs. The team returns four quarterbacks including 35-year-old Ricky Ray, who led the team with 4,595 passing yards a year ago.
