We've known for a little while that Aquaman will be a part of the new DC and Warner Bros. superhero movie universe. We've also known for a while that 'Game of Thrones' star Jason Momoa is filling the hero's slippery shoes. And with WB recently claiming several release dates, it was just a matter of time before a new solo-superhero movie was announced -- one that's not Superman or Batman. Yes, that's right, Aquaman is getting his very own movie.

THR reports that not just one, but two scripts are currently in development for an 'Aquaman' movie at Warner Bros. Will Beall, who wrote 'Gangster Squad,' and Kurt Johnstad, who wrote '300: Rise of an Empire,' have been tasked with developing scripts for an 'Aquaman' solo film. These scripts are separate, which means that WB is hedging its bets a bit with competing screenplays, hoping that one or both of them will be good enough to give the aquatic hero his very own film.

The studio recently dated nine untitled superhero movies through 2020, and while they still have plenty of time to get an Aquaman movie off the ground, they likely already have something of a release outline. By hiring two writers to pen separate screenplays, the studio is able to do twice the work in less time -- rather than requesting rewrites or new drafts or hiring new writers, they've already set two screenplays in motion, allowing them to choose the best one or perhaps even combine the strengths of the two. This puts the film on the fast track without really rushing things.

It's unknown who will direct the film at this time, as Zack Snyder is busy with 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,' which he'll follow up with a 'Justice League' movie and a 'Man of Steel' sequel. What do you guys think? Are you excited for a solo Aquaman adventure? Who do you think should direct the film?
