American Idol Star Taylor Hicks’ Plane Engine Explodes, Makes Emergency Landing

American Idol star and Birmingham native Taylor Hicks was forced to make an emergency landing Wednesday night after his private plane’s engine exploded mid-air.

Hicks was traveling from Alabama to Tennessee when the plane wing was immediately drenched in oil from the explosion. In a video message to TMZ following the traumatic experience, Hicks said his life flashed before his eyes. Thankfully, the plane was able to make an emergency landing at a rural airport in Jasper.

Taylor and two other passengers on board made it out of the situation unharmed but were shaken up, according to Hicks.
