Amazon is warning customers to update their Kindle devices before Tuesday, March 22 or they will be unable to access the Kindle store or sync to their books to the cloud. Amazon's emergency update is being pushed out to customers who own 2012 Kindle Paperwhites and every generation Kindle before. If your device is plugged up and scheduled to update regularly, you should be okay, but if your e-reader is tucked in a drawer somewhere, you'll need to plug it up and download the software.

Amazon's website says, 'Customers using an outdated software version on Kindle e-readers require an important software update by March 22, 2016 in order to continue to download Kindle books from the Cloud, access the Kindle Store, and use other Kindle services on their device.'

How to instructions are available here.
