The nominees for Album of the Year in the 2016 Taste of Country Fan Choice Awards are an interesting mix of young and veteran artists, working in a variety of commercial and more cutting-edge aspects of the format to encompass everything that's great about country music right now.

Keith Urban is a veteran who went edgier and struck pay dirt on Ripcord, easily one of his most diverse collections to date. Brandy Clark reaffirmed her status as one of country's greatest singer-songwriters with her sophomore release, Big Day in a Small Town, while Maren Morris brought together traditional and contemporary elements for her smash debut, Hero.

Dierks Bentley broke new ground on his latest, Black, and Jake Owen took a different turn for American Love as well. Florida Georgia Line displayed a new depth on Dig Your Roots, and Drake White demonstrated he has the musical Spark required to deliver a great debut.

Brothers Osborne brought an edgy hip to the country format with their full-length debut, Pawn Shop, while Vince Gill proved an older dog might still surprise with some new tricks on Down to My Last Bad Habit.
