I had an epiphany last week. Heavy Equipment Operators may have the most under appreciated profession in the world.

As I was passing by the road work in progress on Albert Sanders Road, I had to pull over and grab a few photographs (the colors and vastness of the scene were stunning and I'm a nerd, I know). I grew fascinated with the silent communication between the gentlemen driving the backhoe, pack and bull dozier as they 'danced' with each other to get the job done.

First, this backhoe made quick work of a tall tree that was in it's way. After a little prep work, he nudged it over a little bit then the bull dozier and packer came in right behind him to begin the clean up process.

I have a completely new appreciation for the brilliant minds and dedicated public works workers that Tuscaloosa County is so lucky to have.

Here are a few videos of a giant tree being brought down followed by the three machines working together to clear the debris from the fall. It's absolutely amazing.

Thank you gentlemen for allowing me to shoot photographs and watch you do what you do. Most of all, THANK YOU for the work that goes unseen to make our roadways safe.
