It's always nice when Alabama ranks at the top of the nation for something positive! What's rare is when its regarding nonpartisan political activity.

ABC 33/40 reports that Alabama has become the first state in the nation to allow online voting for overseas military personnel. This will replace the absentee ballot, which has often placed service members in a position of feeling like their votes didn't count as by the time their ballots were received and returned, critical deadlines had passed. Military members from Alabama serving overseas will be able to vote online for the March Primaries.

Could this be the beginning of something great?  Will we soon be able to vote online rather than going to polls?  Would that lead to more hacking and political corruption? I know one thing: If we're allowed to vote online, no one will have an excuse for lack of participation.  Even people without cars have phones with internet access.
