As college football fans try to pass the time until the 2015 season begins, they turn to preview magazines to get their fix. One of the most comprehensive on the market is Phil Steele's season preview, which has a thorough analysis of all 128 FBS teams.

Steele's magazine has hit newsstands, giving us a first look at his preseason rankings. Fans might not be surprised to see Ohio State picked as the favorite for 2015, but it's far from predictable from there.

Steele's top four, which would be the field for the College Football Playoff, also includes TCU, USC and Alabama. If these predictions hold, the Nick Saban's Crimson Tide would be staring down a revenge opportunity against Urban Meyer's Buckeyes. Find us a football fan that wouldn't love to see that happen.

Here's how the full top 10 looks:

  1. Ohio State
  2. TCU
  3. USC
  4. Alabama
  5. Baylor
  6. Georgia
  7. Stanford
  8. Florida State
  9. Michigan State
  10. LSU

As you can see, Steele has picked Alabama to win the Southeastern Conference for the third time in four years despite returning just 10 starters and having playing the toughest schedule in the country. But you might also notice that a popular playoff pick for 2015 is missing from this list: Auburn. Steele thinks the Tigers will finish the year No. 14 even though he has them at No. 8 in his Power Ratings.

The SEC is well-represented once again with Ole Miss (No. 20), Arkansas (No. 22), Missouri (No. 24), and Tennessee (No. 25) joining Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and Auburn. That gives the conference eight total teams among the top 25.
