Alabama place-kicker Adam Griffith has been named to the 2016 Lou Groza Award watch list announced today by the Palm Beach (Fla.) County Sports Commission.

Griffith is among 30 placekickers from around the country named to the preseason list.

Griffith, a two-year starter and 2015 second team All-SEC selection, has played in 36 career games and is 36 of 54 on field goal attempts and 120-for-121 on extra points tries for his career. He has a career average of 63.2 yards on kickoffs with 55 touchbacks. Griffith’s 228 career points ranks sixth in school history and his 36 field goals ranks seventh, while his long field goal of 55 yards is the second longest in school history.

The Lou Groza Award has been presented annually since 1992 by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission to recognize the top place-kicker in college football. The award is named in honor of former Ohio State and Cleveland Browns place-kicker Lou “The Toe” Groza. The 2016 winner will be announced at the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show in December.
