Americans love pets, as a record 65 percent households have one. A new survey reveals at least one Alabama city on the Most Pet Friendly list!

American Pet Products Association survey points out that around the country, 79.7 million households include a pet. Those are lofty numbers, but really aren't surprising to me when you take a look around at the number of businesses dedicated to pets. Anywhere from specialty stores, to groomers and vets, there are quite a few even in a city like Tuscaloosa. A city which I've seen to be very pet friendly.

The numbers have been crunched in a fun survey which compiled data from the 100 largest cities in the U.S. on key metrics. "Our data set ranges from “minimum pet-care provider rate per visit” to “number of pet businesses per capita” to “pet-friendly restaurants per capita.” Scroll down for the complete ranking, expert pet advice and the full description of our methodology," says WalletHub.

Unfortunately, Tuscaloosa, Alabama is not among the 100 largest cities in the nation. However, a neighboring city is. A city which shares our love for pets and for being "pet friendly." Coming in all the way up the list at #2 is Birmingham. Congrats to the Magic City!

The Top 5 Most Pet Friendly Cities in America, according to WalletHub:

  1. Orlando, FL
  2. Birmingham, AL
  3. Tampa, FL
