Come be a part of the conservation movement with the 8th annual Lake Tuscaloosa-North River Waterfest and Lake Clean Up on April 8th and 9th!

Just think about it, we get our drinking water from Lake Tuscaloosa, which is fed by the North River watershed.  Waterfest provides an opportunity for all of us to learn about protecting and conserving our local water supply!

According to a statement from the City of Tuscaloosa, there will be an educational expo for 4th graders only, featuring local experts demonstrating how and why both Lake Tuscaloosa and the North River watershed are important to the community.

Waterfest - Lake Clean Up:

  • Saturday, April 9, 2016
  • 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • Rock Quarry boat landing
  • Highway 43 - Binion Creek boat landing
  • Volunteers can register on-site at the event.

In addition, all public boat landings around Lake Tuscaloosa, Lake Nicol and Harris Lake will include unmanned drop-off points.  This provided an opportunity for anyone to clean their favorite stretch of local waters.

The City of Tuscaloosa says, "at last year’s lake clean up event, 107 volunteers removed 7,177 pounds of trash from Lake Tuscaloosa. These numbers contribute to a grand total of over 105,000 pounds of trash removed by over 900 volunteers since the event’s beginning in 2009."
