5 Reasons Why My Son is Signing Up For Lemonade Day in Tuscaloosa
First, I'll tell you what Lemonade Day is. LemonadeDay.org describes it: " In 2007, founder Michael Holthouse had a vision to empower today’s youth to become tomorrow’s entrepreneurs through helping them start, own and operate their very own business…a lemonade stand."
"Lemonade Day is a strategic 14-step process that walks youth from a dream to a business plan, while teaching them the same principles required to start any big company."
I've done some research and my 7 year old will be taking part in this event in Tuscaloosa on June 18th. This program has helped over 1 million kids across America since 2007, with partners like Google for Entrepreneurs. Registration starts this week. More on that later.
I own a business. It's been said that entrepreneurs are the only people willing to work 80 hours a week to avoid working 40. True. Owning and operating a small business isn't easy but very rewarding.
I have learned so much since we opened my business over a year ago. There are things you learn in business that you didn't know you didn't know. I love the idea of Lemonade Day because it's an opportunity to lay a foundation for our children.
Here are 5 reasons why my 7 year old Brody will participate and I am excited to help.
- He will learn about Money. How to make his money work for him and not just work for money.
- He will learn self reliance and confidence. He will be on his on in a few short years.
- He will learn how to treat people. Customer service goes a long way. Without them, there's no business.
- He will learn to create a plan and follow it. Change and tweak but move forward.
- He will learn to give back. Its important to me to Save - Spend - Give.
