It's Labor Day weekend with a 3 day weekend and Alabama football on Saturday night. That means plenty of time during the day + Sunday & Monday to check out to head out some festivals you will only find in Alabama.  Here are 5 to check out.

The Sweet Tater Festival at Smith Lake Park in Cullman 9/3 and 9/4.  Live entertainment, a wide range of food vendors, a broad spectrum of over 100 arts and crafts vendors, and of course, sweet taters (sweet potatoes) in just about EVERY format, taste, and style you can imagine.

Caribbean Day at the Park at Stoner Field Park in Huntsville 9/3.  A day of games, Caribbean food and reggae music hosted by the Caribbean Association of North Alabama .

Peanut Boil Festival 9/2 in Luverne. The third annual peanut boil, which is the state’s largest. The festival will also include a 5K run, vendors, music, a beauty pageant and a car show.

21st Annual Labor Day Celebration and Moon Pie Eatin’ Contest at Tannehill Iron Works Historical State Park in McCalla 9/4.  Alabama’s largest moon pie eating contest  and crafts and food.

 

42nd Annual St. Williams Seafood Festival at Civitan Park on Lake Guntersville 9/2.  Fresh seafood will be served including crawfish, catfish, shrimp and gumbo.
