This weekend's inaugural 2016 Beach Town Music Festival in Vero Beach, Fla. has been postponed due to the predicted danger of Hurricane Matthew. The lineup for the festival included Vero Beach native Jake Owen, along with fellow country acts David Nail and Clare Dunn.

"Due to inclement weather, we regretfully announce the Beach Town Music Festival will be postponed to a later date," explains Gary Dewaard, who owns the festival. "We are disappointed to make this announcement, but in the interest of public safety, this decision was made to protect the fans, artists, vendors and staff."

Other names on the bill included Bret Michaels, the Gin Blossoms, Edwin McCain, LA Guns, David Ray, Scotty Emerick and country's Adley Stump.

The event was slated for Friday, Oct. 7 and Saturday, Oct. 8. According to the press release, there are plans in the works to reschedule the event. Details about the makeup date will be announced shortly, and tickets holders are advised to retain their tickets, which will be honored at the rescheduled event. There have been several country music festivals canceled in 2016, most to be blamed on poor ticket sales or for undisclosed reasons. But this is the second festival that has been altered due to extreme weather. The 2016 Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam, which was also to take place in Florida, was canceled in the beginning of September because of Tropical Storm Hermine. Unfortunately, Owen was scheduled to headline that festival, as well.

Both Luke Bryan's 2016 Farm Tour and Garth Brooks' World Tour have also been affected by Hurricane Matthew.
